Help Emmett & Chandler- Twins of First Responders
Donation protected
Help us support the medical needs for premature twins Chandler and Emmett.
As a firefighter and EMT, Adam and Amber have served the Raleigh/Cary community as first responders for over 10 yrs… and now it’s time for us to support them.
Adam and Amber found out they were expecting identical twin boys last summer. Although due in February, Amber went into preterm labor and they welcomed their twins Chandler and Emmett on December 23rd at just 33 weeks. They both required over a month in the NICU for respiratory and nutritional support. Chandler was also diagnosed with a rare orthopedic condition. Fortunately they were able to go home with mom and dad at the end of January.
Everyone was adjusting to being at home and doing reasonably well until recently when Chandler started to develop feeding difficulty. After many diagnostic tests, it was discovered last week he had a rare condition called pyloric stenosis. This is a tightening of the muscle connecting the stomach to the bowel, which in Chandler’s case had progressed so that he could no longer digest enough to stay hydrated or gain weight and required immediate surgery. It was also discovered he had a hernia that would require fixing as well. The surgery was a success, however he had a difficult time recovering and had to stay in the ICU. While not as urgent, Emmett now must undergo similar tests given they are genetically identical.
Amber, Emmet and Chandler’s medical bills will start to pile up soon. Moving forward they are likely to need more specialist, tests, and therapies given their prematurity and Chandler’s orthopedic condition.
Adam and Amber have served their community throughout the pandemic, and now we have an opportunity give back. Help us take some financial stress off a family going through so much.
