Let's help Emmett win his fight against childhood cancer!

 

In September in 2018, when he was just three years old, Emmett Lewis' parents, Steve and Tara, took him to doctors to understand why he was having seizures. After extensive testing, what they found out was the worst news of their lives: their little boy had a brain tumor.

 

By December of that year, Emmett had surgery in which doctors removed much of the tumor, but some was left behind, along with some vision loss. The Lewis family knew that eventually they may have to face further treatments; after monthly check-ins, doctors saw that Emmett's tumor was growing, and he would need to have surgery again . . . and that time is now in December 2021.

 

This month, just days before Christmas, the Lewis family will take six-year-old Emmett from their home in Broomfield, CO, to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, TN, for a second brain surgery -- and doctors feel confident that this time, they might be able to remove it all . . . imagine the HOPE the family is feeling right now. Doctors may be able to stop this tumor from growing once and for all.

 

But they need more than hope: they need your help. Costs from the first surgery are still looming, travel and accommodation expenses, medical bills, therapies that aren't covered by insurance, and so much more are financial burdens that our community can help alleviate for this boy and his family.  Steve is a former Marine / veteran and police officer in Lafayette, Colorado, and he and his wife Tara have been giving to their communities for much of their lives, and now they need YOUR help.
