Hi! My name is Emmet and I’m 11 years old.
I got chosen by my teacher to go to a really cool camp called the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM at the University of Miami! I was so excited when I found out! It’s a camp where I’ll get to stay in an actual dorm room , meet new kids from all over the country, and do educational classes and hands-on science, engineering, and robotics projects.
I am not the best at English and writing and my classroom applications help a Lot to write this. I am very good at math and science and always get good grades in those subjects. But at school most of the work is writing and English and we don’t get to do as many science projects and not everyone likes math as much as me. I think this will be a great experience and something I could never get from my school, I think my teacher knows this about me and that is why I was nominated. I feel so proud to be recognized for something I am good at and enjoy.
If you know me, you know I really love school. I love puzzles and math is my favorite subject. I work hard, I ask a LOT of questions, and I love figuring out how things work. I want to be an engineer or an architect when I grow up, and this camp will help me learn even more and get better at problem-solving and working with others. I will be learning things I can’t learn at school.
I’m trying to raise money on my own to help pay for the tuition, and I want to help my parents because they already do so much for me. This camp means a lot to me, and I want to show that I’m responsible and really serious about going. Anything I can raise will help me get to this camp and I have never done something like this before.
Any amount donated would be a huge help and mean so much to me. Thank you for reading and for supporting me—I promise to learn a lot and make you proud!
Thank you so much,
Emmet
