Hi, my name is Emma Michalowski, and I am raising funds to study abroad this summer in London and further my education and future career in Sports Psychology.

From a young age, I have been fascinated by the ways people think, feel, and respond to challenges. This curiosity grew as I spent my high school years playing tennis alongside my brother. Even though we competed in the same environment, I noticed how differently we handled pressure - while he stayed calm and composed on court, I often let my stress get the best of me. These experiences sparked a lasting interest in learning about how the mind influences performance, specifically in sports.

I am currently a Psychology major at Florida State University, planning to get my Master's Degree in Sports Psychology. My coursework has allowed me to learn all about human behavior under pressure, and my role as an intern manager for the FSU Men's Tennis Team has given me the amazing opportunity to have hands-on experience observing the routines and tendencies of athletes and their mental performance. The opportunity to work alongside my college tennis team has confirmed that sports psychology is not just a small interest for me, it is something I want to turn into a career.

Studying abroad in London would be an amazing step in helping me transform my goals into reality. Understanding the ways that cultural environments shape the way that athletes think, compete, and cope with stress is something that I see as crucial to being an amazing Sports Psychologist. London is one of the most diverse cities in the world, which is what makes it such an incredible place to study psychology. I hope to gain knowledge on how culture influences motivation, emotional regulation, and responses to competition, which will be invaluable insight when working with athletes from all around the world.

My long term goal is to help athletes understand their own minds, and use that understanding as a source of confidence and strength both during their athletic performances and in their personal lives. Being able to study abroad in London would provide irreplaceable academic, cultural, and personal experiences that would help shape me into the Sports Psychologist I strive to become.

The experience of studying abroad in London costs $13,000, apart from airfare and personal expenses. The program cost covers living, classes, meal vouchers, class registration, health insurance, and a London transport pass. I am actively working to contribute as much of my own money as possible toward this experience, and I am fully committed to furthering my education through my own efforts. However, studying abroad comes with significant additional costs, and any donation - no matter the size - would greatly help to make this opportunity more accessible.
