My name is Emma, and I am a biology and Spanish double major with a minor in chemistry, currently on a pre-dental track. This summer, I have the incredible opportunity to participate in a study abroad program in Valladolid, Spain. This experience is especially meaningful to me because I have been studying Spanish since eighth grade, and my passion for language learning and culture was sparked by my high school Spanish teacher. His dedication and care for his students inspired me to continue learning and to dream of one day immersing myself in a Spanish-speaking country.
Although I have always wanted to study abroad, I have never traveled out of the country or by myself before. The thought of being away from my friends and family makes me nervous, but I know that stepping out of my comfort zone will help me grow more confident and independent. These are skills that will be invaluable as I prepare to graduate and apply to dental school in spring 2027, and as I work toward becoming a dental professional. The two-week program in Valladolid, offered through my university, is the perfect opportunity to challenge myself and gain new perspectives.
The funds I raise will go directly toward the tuition for the program, which covers university fees at Valladolid, housing, transportation within Spain, entrance fees, and health insurance through my university. I am responsible for my airfare and personal expenses, but your support will make this life-changing opportunity possible. I am so very grateful for this chance to develop skills that will stay with me for the rest of my life, and I would be over the moon ecstatic for any help at all.
