Hi friends, my name is Emma. I'm a trans woman living in Texas suffering from severe PTSD that has upended my life and cost me two jobs at this point. My family cut me off last year and I've had no contact or support from them whatsoever while dealing with financial crisis after financial crisis. I've been getting by with support from some amazing friends but I've come to realize living in the neighborhood I grew up in and suffered so much abuse in, as well as living in a state desperately trying to strip me of my healthcare and rights, is simply not where I am ever going to live a life I can truly be proud of. I have dear friends in Chicago who I need to be closer to, as well as a state that will hopefully do more to protect my rights. I will also benefit from likely being able to sell my car as well as having cheaper rent than where I am now. Most importantly though, I am suffering and I know I am never going to get better unless I leave this place behind.

This is not an emergency and I urge you to make sure you are taking care of yourself before you consider giving me any support. You cannot pour from an empty cup. It can take the rest of my life to move out of this state and it will still be worth it. However, I need to be working towards this. I need to be goal oriented on living the life I know I deserve. If you choose to help me find myself in a place I can finally call home, I would be deeply humbled and grateful.

This money will go towards several things, mostly the move itself and getting all of my belongings, pets, and myself across the country. It will also go towards paying off some of my debt so that my credit score can improve enough to be able to secure an apartment.

I want to reiterate that this is not an emergency campaign and you should only give to it if you are both already taken care of, and if you truly believe in helping me work towards a brighter future. I am still unemployed and needing regular help with my monthly expenses now and that IS regularly an emergency. If you choose to give to me for that, please consider splitting the amount you would give and putting some of it towards this move. This is a long term goal and will set me up for a better life hopefully for a very long time.
