As of yesterday, one of my best friends in the world was completely cut off by her mother. As a college student, this means she has been made responsible for not only her tuition but also her rent, bills, insurance, etc. Her mother liquidated her college savings account and has cut off contact between her and her sisters upon finding out Emma had gotten tattoos. Emma is nineteen and legally capable of making her own decisions regarding things like tattoos, but such a situation has placed her at a financial disadvantage and burdened her with enormous amounts of stress on top of her responsibilities as a student. Her credit history isn’t long or strong enough to cover expenses such as taking out a loan without heavy interest, despite working two jobs and being a full-time student. She is far too humble to ask for help and is trying her best to make ends meet, but it breaks my heart to see her put on a brave face right now and I want to do anything I can to help.
