Update: Emma has been admitted to 
Lucille Packard Stanford Children's Hospital!

Living expenses are very high in Palo Alto
and Charlie can no longer drive so they'll need to find a place right next to the hospital. For this reason we've increased the giving goal.

Four nights ago our lives were turned upside down when we received the news that our beloved daughter Emma Madison, who is just 11 years old, has a very large Pheochromocytoma tumor putting pressure on her kidney, liver, and intestines. We are devastated and heartbroken but we have faith that God will open doors for her to get all the care she needs.

The oncologist told us we must take immediate action, without a week to spare,  because the tumor is growing so aggressively (it has grown to be 10cm in about three months). She will likely have an emergency surgery this coming week to keep the tumor from spreading and calcifying. After it is extracted we will know if it is cancer and if Emma needs chemotherapy.  

As many of you know, because of numerous health challenges and surgeries, Charlie had to retire from his over thirty-year career as a teacher, last year and we find ourselves with very limited income and will need to relocate to a place close to the hospital so we can both be by Emma's side.

Like any parent, we will go to the ends of the earth for our only daughter. We can't wait to see Emma up on stage with the Shakespeare Company again, playing dress-up with her friends, writing books in her music-filled room, walking barefoot on the beach, and laughing with her daddy.

The money will be used to pay for living expenses near the hospital and any medical treatments or medications that are not covered by insurance.
