Hi my name is Emma and I'm a mummy of three beautiful children and we recently (despite a global pandemic) moved to spain for lots of reasons mainly quality of life for our children, work and well were adventurous spirits.
Before we left I had an appointment for my eye which tbh as all us mummys do I kept putting it off thinking it was nothing ( 3 yrs later) .
It wasn't until friends and family started saying emma is your eye ok whats that?? I got a little self conscious and when i took a long look in the mirror not just brush my teeth and go i realised this lumpy thing had grown to the point of starting to cover my iris and pupil.
Cut to a long awaited appointment with an eye specialist two missed because I had a lockdown baby and well life just got in the way I found out I need surgery to remove my Pinguecula /
Pterygium it has affected my vision its very blurred in that eye and constantly like I have grit in my eye I have to use drops to stop my eye watering constantly which doesnt all sound that bad but here's the not so nice part that I try not to think about it to much
It will if not removed make me go blind in that eye if not because its covered my pupil because its growing very fast, but that delayed surgery will result in it being cut off my pupil leading to potential blindness anyway.
I am a proud person who doesn't like asking for help but I can't in the current situation afford to wait for surgery in England because I couldnt get back to my family so I need to get it done here in spain.
The surgery is simple and its just a small skin graft to cut out the fleshy lump I know makes my tummy turn too followed by surgical glue all under a local anesthesia so quite simple really.
I get to wear a pirate patch for a few days and fingers crossed it wont return.
Thankyou for reading and I hope you can even if a little help me
Love and hugs
Emma :)
