Hi everyone,
I never imagined I would be writing something like this, but I’m asking for help for my sweet girl, Emma.
Emma is turning 17 years old this April. I adopted her from a humane society when she was just 3 years old. Since that day, she has been my constant companion, my comfort, and truly a member of my family. She has been by my side my whole adult life, and I can't imagine what life would be like without her.
Recently, we received heartbreaking news — Emma is suffering from possible oral cancer.
Right now, we are in the middle of trying to understand exactly what we’re facing. She still needs additional testing and surgery to determine the specific type of cancer she has. Our veterinarian is recommending a CT scan of her throat so we can see how far the cancer has progressed and develop the best possible treatment plan. She is currently on antibiotics and a pain reliever to make her more comfortable while we wait for X-ray results and consultation to plan her next steps.
These diagnostics and procedures are expensive, especially on top of the emergency visits and initial testing we’ve already done. We are doing everything we can, but the remaining costs for further testing, surgery, pathology, and treatment are more than we can manage alone. I am terrified to have to do end-of-life measures just because I can't afford her vet bills.
Emma is still bright-eyed and full of love. She purrs, cuddles, and wants to be near me every day, and she is not showing signs of giving up. She deserves the chance to be comfortable and to receive the care that could help extend her time with us or at the very least give her the best quality of life possible.
We are raising funds to cover:
• Remaining diagnostic tests
• Surgery to biopsy and identify the cancer type
• A CT scan of her throat
• Development of a treatment plan
• Potential follow-up care
If you are able to donate, share, or even just send good thoughts, it would mean the world to us. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to giving Emma the care she needs.
Thank you for reading our story and for loving our sweet girl with us.
With gratitude,
Emma's momma, Becca
