Hello! It's me Fanny Bleach (Emma in the day time) I am fortunate to be performing at Edinburgh Fringe this year with my first ever one woman show The Nearly Naked Show! And I need a little help...
Here's a bit about the show:
The Nearly Naked Show is a reclamation of my naked body in all it’s gory glory, told through alternative comedy, cabaret and drag. It’s like Goosebumps for grownups, it’s weird and silly and full of heart not to mention reveal after reveal after reveal. Born from a place of defiance and protest, I wanted to make a show that was entirely mine, in which I reclaim autonomy over my own body in my own way, calling the shots and choosing how much or how little of myself I give to the audience. Saying that… I definitely give them my all, in fact at one point I literally tear out my heart and hand it to them on a plate.
Apologies for the soppy bit... I'm so excited to be taking my show but it's not cheap. Overall it's looking like it will cost around £7000, some of which has already been spent. It so rubbish that the Fringe has become so inaccessible, it should be for everyone to try out new work but unless you have serious money it can ruin an artist. You should be able to concentrate on making the best show you can, when in reality making money to get yourself there takes priority.
I have applied for 4 different funding applications and none were successful so now it's just down to me. I am working 3 jobs alongside doing as many WIPS as possible to generate the funds I need. It would mean THE WORLD to me if you or anyone you might know could spare a quid or 2 to help me out. And if you've got rich mates who love the arts, even better send it their way!
Rant over, I know things are tight and I have been putting off resorting to crowd funding but hey ho this is where we are!
