We don’t like asking for help, but we don’t have many options right now. My wife was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis about 3 months ago. She was sent to emergency with a headache, and came out with that diagnosis. She is currently on her fourth hospital admission with a treatment for a flare up that isn’t working, and time is the only cure for it.
At this point, her speech is slurred, she can’t walk with stability, she’s losing her balance and she’s so fatigued that she can’t maintain the house or take care of our children without help. To put it into perspective, we have three daughters, two of which are neurodiverse and in therapy every week. She is so weak, that she can’t even pick up our younger two daughters for any length of time to settle them and has to then put them down.
Because of her illness, she doesn’t have the energy to give myself or the girls the attention and love we all need, and that the children deserve.
Her initial MRI showed multiple MS lesions on her brain and two in her spine. One on the c2 vertebrae and one on the c5 vertebrae. Her most recent showed that one of her brain lesions has grown, and now she has a new lesion on her c3 vertebrae.
She has started treatment which will take time to work and the doctor has recommended 3 months off work. Unfortunately, she has just come off maternity leave and used all of her leave with baby. Now, she has used her newly accrued leave and we have exhausted our savings and are now in fear of losing our house. My income covers everything but the mortgage, which her income covered. It also means that if we need to pay for any extra treatment that we’re unable to do so.
Thank you for your support, we’re grateful to you and love each and every one of you! ❤️
