Help Support Emma’s Journey

I’d like to share the story of Emma Frech, a bright, kind, and resilient 9-year-old who has shown incredible strength through challenges no child should have to face.

Emma was born full of joy and light — a “big little sister” who loves basketball, bowling, reading, and bike rides with her siblings. She’s always the first to lend a hand and bring a smile to those around her.

At just 3 years old, Emma was hospitalized with a serious spinal infection, but with treatment and her unshakable spirit, she made a full recovery. Then, in March 2023, her health took another sudden turn. Her neck began to swell, and within hours she lost her balance, strength, and speech. She was rushed to the hospital under a stroke code, and though she hadn’t had a stroke, doctors were left searching for answers.

After months of tests, therapy, and trips to specialists, Emma finally received a diagnosis in May 2024: Autoimmune Meningoencephalitis, caused by the Anti-GAD 65 antibody, as well as Mixed Variable Immunodeficiency, which makes her more susceptible to infections.

Despite all she’s been through, Emma continues to meet every challenge with laughter, determination, and grace. She’s regained about 80–90% of her pre-illness abilities and works hard in speech and occupational therapy to keep improving.

The Frech family continues to travel for medical care and therapy sessions, and the costs of treatment, travel, and time away from work have added up. This fundraiser will help support Emma’s ongoing medical expenses and ensure she continues to receive the care she needs.
