Help Emma and MacKenzie reach Chicago safely!

On August 26 2020, two of my best friends got in their Prius and began the move they’d been planning for over a year, going from Seattle to Chicago. Two hours later, a big and very unavoidable chunk of metal debris on the highway popped two of their tires and sent their car skidding across three lanes of traffic at 70 mph before hitting the cement barrier head-on. Fortunately, no one was injured beyond some bad bruises - unfortunately, the Prius that Emma has relied on for the past year was destroyed.

Emma and MacKenzie have since gotten a rental car and are back on the road again, but the catastrophe has put them in serious debt. All the money they saved up for the move is gone, the rental car is an expensive but short-term fix, and Emma will be stuck making payments for a Prius that no longer exists on top of buying a new car. Because Emma is immunocompromised and the coronavirus could be deadly for her, owning a car is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. MacKenzie, her loving partner, is committed to keeping them both safe.

I am asking for donations on their behalf to help get them to Chicago safely and let them settle in without being threatened with homelessness as they recover financially in the midst of COVID-19.
