RBRF just took in 2 new rescues that are in urgent need of vet and farrier care!
we got reached out to by an out of state family member of this individual telling us of there concern that the work load may be to much for there older family member to handle.
We were told they were up to date on all vet and farrier care. However now it’s obvious this is not the case!
Emma the donkey has masses on her neck and shoulders that we are worried may be tumors.
Emma also has very over grown curling hooves, it is also very possible she has foundered.
Kia the appy mare looks to have severe cushings! A very cresty neck that the owner believed was just very muscular, and is shedding worse then a normal horse would during shedding season!
Both are matted up with burdocks and had blankets tied on with bailing twine. Kia had clearly been over heating these warmer day as her blankets were very heavy and had not been removed in quite some time. Emma had a human winter coat tied around her neck and re enforced with more bailing twine. Her blanket was very over sized and tied up so she wouldn’t step on it.
it is clear the owner had love for these animals but not the knowledge to give them the care they needed.
the living conditions these animals were found in were not conditions any animal or human should live in.
fences falling down, fence being held together by a hope and best intentions that were unfortunately not the best situation.
a barn with a mound of manure and bedding and falling in gates.
I believe these horses were loved but they were begging for help and no one could see it. They are now safe and happy with the vet coming out tomorrow to do a full examination on both of them!
Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
