Help Emma and Family With Medical Expenses
Emma Spalding and her mom Heidi Kesler were on a college scouting trip to both Washington State University and the University of Idaho, where she plans to potentially attend one after she completes her upcoming senior year of high school. On the night of August 10th, just outside of Othello, WA, they were involved in a collision when a truck came out of nowhere and t-boned them.
Emma was flown by life flight to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane for severe trauma, while Heidi was taken to the local Othello hospital and released with a fractured vertebra, many bumps, cuts, and bruises. Emma is currently in stable condition in the ICU, she continues to suffer from brain swelling and bleeding, while also having two vertebra that have been fractured or broken. She may also need to have a kidney removed from damage sustained during the crash. Currently with the brain swelling, the doctors have limited options in surveying the extent of all the potential damage.
Emma's current prognosis is many weeks of intensive care in the hospital. Her parents and brother have been fortunate that Ronald McDonald House will provide some temporary housing for now. With no clear time frame for Emma's release from the hospital, the family is more than likely facing an extended stay away from home so they can be near Emma while she heals.
Emma is a very outstanding young lady, working at the Grays Harbor Veterinary Clinic, participating in both FFA and 4-H, while continuing to take Running-Start classes through the summer to get a jump start on her college education with the goal of becoming a Veterinarian. At the recent Grays Harbor County Fair, Emma brought Dairy and Beef Animals to show, and a market hog for the annual youth live stock auction.
This caring and humble family does not expect you to contribute money, however, any contributions for the numerous anticipated medical bills and associated costs with their extended stay away from home on the other side of the state, would be very much appreciated.
*With this incredible community, we upped the goal, but no pressure to make it! The family are beyond belief about all the generous friends, family and community members that are donating and helping and offering their prayers and support. Sincere thank you from the family.*
