In early 2023, Emm was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in loss of both feeling and movement below her waist. Now, three years after her crash, she is able to feel almost normal sensation to her ankles and wiggle her knees! Emm has worked incredibly hard to achieve the level of recovery she has, but her journey is not over.

In order to build muscle back up in her legs, along with hopeful further recovery of movement below her knees, Emm’s physical therapists recommend a very specialized piece of medical equipment - an FES stationary bike. This bike would allow her to practice movement of her legs with the assistance of both a motorized set of foot pedals and electrical stimulation directly into her muscles. With this equipment, we hope to see an improvement in motor function and mobility in Emm’s legs, and increased general health.
