Help Emily with damage from Storm Ida

Hi my name is Devon Carman. I am from Oakland, California and I am fundraising for my sister who lives in Jersey City, New Jersey.

My sister, Emily and her fiancé Connor bought a home in Jersey City in the summer of 2020. They were first time home buyers and were excited to settle in and begin building a life in Jersey City. They were at home on 9/1 with their 3 dogs, at approximately 8:30 pm that night, when hurricane Ida passed through the area, water began to come in through the master bedroom. They attempted to contain it, but the water kept encroaching, from more and more areas. By 11pm they were forced to evacuate into the storm with their dogs and whatever belongings they could get out and stay with friends.

The next day, Emily and Connor moved into a hotel, where they need to remain to allow Connor to keep his job at a local vets office.

Emily and Connor have lost significant amounts of their clothing, shoes, rugs, and some large pieces of furniture destroyed. They will not be able to live in their condo for the foreseeable future, while they try to understand what happened, and fix the damage from the water.

Emily and Connor have been extremely humbled by this event, and are asking for help. They are hoping to use funds to help with their newly increased living expenses and to help replace lost items and furniture.
