Hi, my name is Emily Sifuentes. I'm 54 years old. I was diagnosed in December 2021 with breast cancer. I found a lump in October but wasn't able to get an appointment until late November, then waited until December for the ultrasound and mammogram. Dealing with insurance and doctor staff was frustrating. Then I got COVID in January, so I wasn't able to start treatment until March. I was supposed to have 12 rounds of chemotherapy, but I only completed 10. I was very weak and tried to quit twice. The doctor met with me to talk about options to ease the pain. My thyroid stopped working, and I developed colitis. My heart is weak, and my liver is enlarged. Since my heart is weak, they lowered the dosage of radiation and extended it an additional week. It's hard to complain when others have it worse or don't make it. It's truly amazing how many people want to help me. I feel so blessed and extremely grateful for everyone's kindness and generosity.
