Help Emily Rebuild & Start Over

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

I never thought I’d be in this position, but I need your help. Last year, I had to make the difficult decision to leave my graduate program early due to circumstances beyond my control. I am currently working with an attorney through the National Women’s Law Center to address what happened, but in the meantime, I’ve had to completely rebuild my life on my own.

Originally, I was set to complete my master’s degree in August 2025, but I had to leave in May 2024. Because I planned to stay in the program, I signed a townhouse lease for another year, which now runs until July 31, 2025. The cost of living has been high (especially utilities), and I’ve had to pay rent, survive multiple hurricanes, and hustle to stay afloat—all while trying to find stable work.

Since leaving school, my only income has come from my small writing business, working with one client a few times a month, bringing in just a few hundred dollars at most. Despite actively applying for jobs, I haven't been able to secure a full-time role yet.

Why I Need Your Help
To regain stability and save money, I plan to move out of my Florida townhouse early in April (breaking my lease comes with a $300 penalty fee). I'll be renting a U-Haul and driving to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where I’ll store my belongings ($54/month) and live with my mom temporarily while I continue my job search and rebuild.

The cost of this move is overwhelming, and I’ve already gone into credit card debt trying to stay afloat this past year. Between the U-Haul rental, gas, moving supplies, lease break fee, and storage rental, I need to raise at least $3,800 to cover my moving expenses and two months of essential bills while I continue job hunting.

This amount will allow me to:
✅ Move out of Florida and store my belongings safely
✅ Cover my lease break fee and moving expenses
✅ Pay for March & April’s bills so I can focus on job searching
✅ Start fresh in a more affordable place without immediate financial stress

How You Can Help
Every little bit counts—whether it’s a donation, sharing this campaign, or hiring me for writing work (I’m always looking for clients!). Your support will help me get through this difficult transition and start fresh in a more stable situation.
