I am Dana and I'm creating this account for my niece Emily.
Emily, 23, is a beautiful, highly intelligent and determined young woman of faith with a kind, tender heart and a generous spirit. At the age of 21, she developed a severe and debilitating skin condition that has forced her to place her life on hold.
For the last two years, she has been fighting for a diagnosis that could bring her any kind of relief. At this point, it is believed she has a very acute case of mold toxicity poisoning which has caused severe erythrodermic dermatitis as well as other symptoms such as muscle, joint, and nerve pain, brain fog, insomnia, chronic itchiness, and extreme fatigue. It is also believed she may have an underlying autoimmune disease contributing to her symptoms.
In her own words:
"The symptoms started as really bad eczema rashes/hives, which over time spread over my whole body. This eventually turned into my skin being swollen and infected often because my whole body was basically an open wound... When antibiotics kicked in it would dry out and become very flaky, tight and split open. There were times where it was so tight that just walking would make my knees split open and bleed and I couldn't stand up straight... My skin was so thin that the slightest scratch, or movement would slice it open.
Anytime I had a bad flare and infection, which was at least once a month, I would not be able to move from the pain, meaning I also was not able to work. I had started my own business and was working part time at a tax office. I was so exhausted all the time, and it felt like every day I had to fight to survive."
After seeing multiple doctors, dermatologists, and allergists; visiting several urgent cares and emergency rooms; and experiencing a 3-day hospital stay due to a full body breakout without any significant resolution, she decided to try a naturopath who had helped her cousin treat Lyme disease.
They began doing IV cell therapy which regenerates the sick cells into healthy cells and is affective in long-term healing. Unfortunately, Emily's veins are not strong enough to handle all of the treatments, so she has had a power picc line placed directly into her chest, which carries a risk of infection the longer it is in. However, the treatments are working, as you can see from the photos of her hand taken about 2 hours apart. (before and after a recent treatment)
So far, she has had 12 treatments. For the best result she goes 3 times a week. The doctor is suggesting she have at least 10, but ideally 20 or more. Each treatment is about $800 and not covered by insurance, meaning it could cost upwards of $25,000 to run the full course of treatment. So far, she and family members have paid for all the expenses out of pocket. Unfortunately, funds are running out.
Though she still battles daily to keep a positive attitude and work as best she can to keep her business up and running, this has taken a toll on both her physical and mental health. Emily is so thankful the treatments seem to be working, and can't wait to get back to her normal, healthy life.
We are extremely grateful for any financial help you can offer. 100% of the money received on Emily's behalf will go to pay for her treatments.
