Help Emily Pay for ARFID Treatment

"Hello! My name is Emily Wall and, as many of you know, I have been living with an eating disorder for most of my life. Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder is an eating disorder where an individual has an extremely selective diet caused by anxiety, trauma, etc. This is a fairly new diagnosis and I spent years reaching out to doctors to find an answer. I was officially diagnosed with ARFID in 2020 and since then have tried seeking treatment via therapists, EMDR, nutritionists. Nothing has helped me, and my disordered eating has begun to take a serious toll on my health, prompting my loved ones to recommend more serious treatment.

I have found a path to recovery with an in-patient eating disorder treatment with The Emily Program, a specialized ED recover program with a center here in the Triangle, which I will start after my school's musical ends per the doctor's recommendation. This will be an intensive partial hospitalization program during which I will enter into the care of several specialists to confront my eating disorder head-on for 6-8 weeks. However, the program itself is not fully covered by insurance, posing financial difficulty for me. In addition to this, my county requires teachers on sick leave to pay for their own subs, making the process doubly expensive.

This GoFundMe was created for those who are interested in helping with my treatment as I have to cover the cost of treatment and the substitutes who are taking care of my classes while I am in treatment.
