Emily Peace has stage IV kidney cancer and needs our financial help. On Saturday May 9th, Emily took her morning walk with the family dog, Hook. While walking, Emily began to feel a numbness in her arm that traveled into her neck. Under the impression that she was having a stroke, she sat down and waited for the spell to pass. Upon returning home, Jon rushed her to the hospital, but was not allowed in because of COVID 19. Alone in the hospital for three days, Emily was told a mass was found on her brain as well as her kidney. The following Thursday, the brain tumor was successfully removed. Due to the size of the kidney tumor (6 inches) and growth around her heart, surgery is not an option as of yet. Yesterday, she met with her oncologist and will begin immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Traditional chemotherapy is not effective against kidney cancer and these new types of drugs are game-changers in treating renal cell carcinoma. The immunotherapy stimulates the immune system to attack the cancer, and the targeted inhibitor blocks cancer cells from receiving oxygen.
As we each know, medical expenses can wipe out savings accounts and leave behind debt that lasts for years. To make matters more complicated, COVID 19 has negatively affected her ability to work as a graphic designer. Her husband, Jon’s business has also been negatively affected by the quarantine and dangers of exposure to the virus, as well as caring for their 13 year old daughter.
PLEASE consider donating in order to reduce the unnecessary stress of medical bills. Your donation will truly be a life saver for my dear friend. I thank you immensely for your donation.
