Support Intervention to Reduce Tanzania Maternal Mortality

Hello! My name is Emily Pfender and I’m a Ph.D. trained communication and women's health scientist. Recently, I lost my funding for a research project in northern Tanzania to implement an educational intervention aimed at improving menstrual health and pregnancy well-being for women in Northern Tanzania. This project is incredibly important to me, and I need your help to make it a reality.

My goal is to raise $5,000. Your generous donations will be used to:

Supporting the Women: Your contributions will also provide financial support to the women in northern Tanzanian tribes who will participate in the educational circles. These women will learn about menstrual health and pregnancy, how to manage menstruation with confidence, when to seek help for pregnancy-related complications, and ways to break the taboos and silence surrounding women's health needs.

Flight to Tanzania: The funds will cover my travel expenses, allowing me to be on the ground and directly engage with the women and communities in Tanzania.

10% of all donations will be given to Mwandamo Women CIC, a women's health nonprofit in Tanzania that provides medical treatment and holistic education to women in Northern Tanzania.

Through this initiative, we aim to:

1. Provide women with the knowledge and tools to better manage their menstrual health and pregnancies.

2. Empower them to share this knowledge with their families and communities.

3. Help reduce the stigma and secrecy surrounding menstruation, improving overall health and social well-being.

I am passionate about using my expertise in communication and women’s health to create positive change. With your support, we can make a real difference in the lives of these women, enabling them to lead healthier, more informed lives and fostering a sense of empowerment that will ripple through their communities.
