My name is Emily and I am a student at University of South Carolina working towards my bachelor's in social work. I am raising funds to help me get tested for learning disabilities. I first started college when I was 17 and I struggled with math then and I'm struggling with it now. I have attempted Statistics FOUR times and had to drop it each time. I recently had to drop my Economics class because I literally could not comprehend it no matter how many times I watched the lectures and looked through the textbook. I got Fs on all of the modules. In order to graduate and earn my degree, I am required to take Statistics and Economics and I am so scared I won't be able to graduate because of those two classes. I also have an academic scholarship and I don't want to lose it because I can't pass two math classes.
I believe I may have dyscalculia and my college's Psychology Department does testing but does not accept insurance and will charge me based on a sliding-scale, thankfully, but it's still a lot. I am currently on the waitlist to be tested so I don't know exactly how much I'll need because I won't know until I go in. When I am able to get the exact number I will update this fundraiser, but I wanted to start raising funds early so I have them for when I need them.
Thank you for reading this.
