Emily is one of my closest friends for over 30 years. Almost 6 weeks ago, we went with a group of our friends on a girls trip to Orlando, FL.  Emily, who has lived with Crohn's disease for the past 10 years, unexpectedly had a rupture of her intestine and as a result has found herself in critical care and far away from home for the past 6 weeks. Her husband, siblings and I have been by her side but she’s far away from home and when she does get clearance to fly we will need to get her medical transportation back to CT. Unfortunately, that is not covered by insurance and the cost of transport is approximately $35,000. Emily will need months of recovery and once she is well enough to be transported, we are hoping she can be placed close to home at Gaylord in CT. The expenses for the family will be exorbitant.
