Emily had a very rough start in life. She and her twin brother Nicholas were born very premature, only 27 weeks. Nicholas passed away from developing necrotizing enterocolitis from the hospital adding formula fortifiers to my breast milk without my knowledge. She fought coming into this world and I want her to continue to fight this world that has been so cruel to her.She has been having to go to school everyday and be bullied. She is the absolute sweetest, most kind-hearted soul I've ever had the privilege of knowing, let alone being able to say that's my daughter!! Emily's been going through a really hard time. She's in 7th grade now. Since she was in 5th grade, she has been bullied continuously. She's come home in tears more times than I'd like to count over kids being mean to her, calling her all kinds of names. First, it was some girls doing it in elementary school, even on her bus ride to and from school. Now, since she's started middle school, there's been a group of boys that have been calling her names. They've made fun of her voice, her looks, her clothes, even taunting her saying she looks like a boy. The relentless bullying has taken a huge toll on her self-esteem, even though I've told her almost daily for as long as I can remember just how beautiful she is, both inside and out. She has such an insane amount of empathy that she doesn't have any ill feelings towards these kids. She actually feels sorry for them because she believes they might be going through something at home and says maybe that's why they come to school and take it out on her.
She's told the teachers. I've had a meeting with her principal. She's now in counseling and has weekly visits to Oaklawn because she's so down and depressed. It tares my heart to pieces knowing my baby girl is hurting inside. The only thing that's been making her smile and bringing her confidence up is going to her boxing lessons. She started taking boxing a few months ago, and she's unbelievably good at it. She's a natural. The problem is I'm a single mother. Her boxing lessons cost $45 a piece. She's had to miss going a few times because I didn't have the money, and I know that's holding her back from her full potential. I wish I could afford to take her twice a week, but I can't even afford to take her every week.
Nobody deserves a little kindness from family, friends, and the generosity of strangers more than this sweet child of mine. So this GoFundMe is to help sponsor Emily for a year of boxing twice a week. My goal is what that woukd cost roughly. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Every little bit helps a long way. If you can't help financially, you could help by sharing this everywhere you can. We would be forever grateful. Thank you.
