Help Emily Breathe Easy:A LungTransplant BucketList Journey
Donation protected

Hi, I'm Lori, and I’m reaching out with a mother’s hope and heart full of love. My daughter, Emily, is 25 years old and facing a fight most people would struggle to endure. She’s battling several diagnosis, including Cystic Fibrosis, Lupus, and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. This has been an ongoing battle and the last several months have been more challenging than most, and this last April was a particularly rough batch of pneumonia that resulted in a scary week in the ICU and a fairly significant dip in lung function. We'd been in the process of speaking to transplant teams to determine which center might be the best fit for her complexities, as a double lung transplant is no longer a choice but a necessity for survival.
The road ahead is full of uncertainty, but we remain hopeful and determined that this life-saving procedure will give her the chance to breathe easier, regain her strength, and live life to the fullest. Despite everything, Emily is doing all she can to keep her joy and laughter going while fighting this battle. She loves fiercely; family, friends, and kitties included, dreams of traveling and living life to the fullest, and somehow still finds a way to smile through oxygen tubes and hospital walls.
We’re raising funds to help cover the overwhelming costs of this life-saving transplant; including travel, medical bills, post-op care, potential loss of income, and living expenses while we wait and recover. Every donation brings us closer to giving her the future she deserves.
In addition to supporting her transplant, we’ve created a “Bucket List Fund” to make sure that Emily can experience the things that bring her joy and make her feel alive; things she might have missed out on due to her illness or that she would like to experience if transplant is no longer an option. From potentially traveling to see friends and sites around the country to simply creating lasting memories with her family, your generosity will help us make these dreams come true.
Any contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference and bring us one step closer to ensuring that Emily has the opportunity to focus on fighting and healing.
Thank you for your love, your support, and your kindness. We’re forever grateful to each and every one of you who helps us through this difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
- Lori
