Help Emily Battle Breast Cancer!!

Please meet Emily (Blair) Papamarkos. Emily is Lauren Blair's sister-in-law, and Judy Andrzejewski's cousin and Godchild. Together we would like to share her story.

 

Emily (38) was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer on 11.24.21. Since there’s a family history of cancer, Emily has been very proactive in her health and screenings and advocates for others to do the same. A routine mammogram in April of 2021 came back clear. Then, in October of 2021, Emily discovered a lump following a self-examination. After many scans, tests, and checkups, it was determined she had cancer. She is Triple Negative, BRCA1 positive. Her treatment is a very aggressive form of chemo which began in December of 2021. She is doing 12 weekly rounds, then 4 rounds every three weeks. She will have surgery following the chemo and her reconstruction date is set for 7.25.22.  

 

Emily is married to Markos Papamarkos. Together they have built a nice life! They take pride in fostering numerous cats, kittens and bunnies from Judges Park Animal Rescue. They have volunteered countless hours at the shelter since 2017. These two pour their hearts, souls, time, and resources into taking care of animals, often helping them to become more comfortable with people before finding their forever homes.

 

 

 

  

Emily and Markos both have full time jobs and have health insurance . The bills and copays that aren’t covered are quickly adding up and as they look ahead to surgeries, time off work will be imminent.  Post-operation will require medical equipment, a hotel room Mark while Emily is hospitalized, and at least two weeks off from work for Mark.
