Hi, I’m Lori Kent – Emily Forte is my daughter. Emily, her husband Thomas, along with their 2 year old daughter have lost everything due to a fire. I’m reaching out for support to cover their immediate needs to help them in their time of need. They lost their home, their jobs and their new business all at once. There was a devastating fire, the Pack Fire, in California on Thursday (11/13) where they live. They have lost everything. On top of that Emily was diagnosed with Basel Cell Carcinoma a couple of weeks ago and had her surgery on Wednesday (11/12). So she is trying to heal from the surgery and deal with all of this – We hate to ask for help but they are in a situation where any support, no matter how small, would make a huge difference.

Their first course of action is finding temporary housing in an area with extremely limited and already challenged housing location.

What Happened?

Thursday, 11/13 – Emily and Thomas were home when they got news there was a fire up the canyon from their house (only about 2 miles away). The police came by and was telling everyone to evacuate and QUICKLY. They had only about 5 minutes to grab what they could. They grabbed one suitcase full of clothes, and some diapers for the baby – then out the door they went. They were able to get their vehicles out - But that is all.

They found out that almost all of the structures in their whole community – where they live full time and work are all gone. They have lost not only their home and belonging but their livelihood. They worked in the RV Park as Managers. They also owned an RV they used to rent out. All of that is gone.

Thankfully they are all safe.

On top of all of this, a few weeks ago Emily had a biopsy on a spot on her scalp. The biopsy showed it was Basel Cell Carcinoma. She had surgery on Wednesday morning. She is still recovering from that surgery and has a bandage on her head for the next 2 weeks. Which is adding a whole other layer to this. Making sure she takes care of herself and allows herself to heal.

They are not unsure what their next steps will be. Their first course of action is getting temporary place to stay until they figure everything out.
