Help Emily and James Have a Safe Birth

James and his wife Emily live in Kolkata India and they are part of a non-profit organization. They are expecting their first baby June 2nd. Instead of flying back to the US for the birth and leaving James behind (He is an Indian Citizen) they decided to have the baby in Kolkata. In India there is only the option of giving birth in a government funded hospital or a private owned hospital. Birth places, midwives, and home births are not available there. The hospital they have chosen is a hospital that supports natural birth but is more costly than expected. A semi-private room (sharing with one other lady) total cost would be 3,000-3,500usd and a private room would be 4,300-5,000usd. The biggest difference between the two is James would not be allowed in the semi-private room during recovery. India takes woman's privacy and decency very seriously.
