Help Emilie Gobeils journey against Grade 4 Glioma
On July 12, 2021 our beloved Emilie, daughter to Jacqueline (Jake) Gobeil was admitted to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon after a CT Scan showed that she had a mass within the left side of her brain stem. She had numbing on parts of her face, neck and arm. She was under 24 hour observation in the Neurology department. An MRI to further examine the mass was performed on July 13; it revealed, upon review with her neurologist and oncologist that she had an inoperable Grade 4 Glioma (DIPG). This has been explained to us as an aggressive, malignant tumor. Emilie will start an intensive 6 week, five days a week, radiation therapy on Monday July 19.
Emilie is a third year Education student at the University of Saskatchewan and is working for Metis Nation of Saskatchewan this summer. She has been advised to cease work and concentrate on her health for the remainder of the summer. She mentioned a couple weeks ago how excited she was to be in the classroom again. She is passionate about education and wishes to continue attending the U of S.
Emilie has been graciously supported by family, friends and the MNS during this last week, but could use some financial assistance as she pursues her dreams; without summer employment, she will only have a minimal student loan to assist her. She is currently living with her boyfriend in Warman, at his parent's place. Emilie and Carson are actively looking for a place of their own to rent this fall and continue their education degrees together.
We thank everyone in advance for your support, prayers and wishes as Emilie and her loved ones proceed on this journey. She is an amazing young woman, daughter, sister to Olivia, girlfriend, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She has touched the hearts of so many in her 20 years!
The money raised will help to support Emilie as she incurs extra medical/travel costs and treatments, as well as offset the financial stresses of being a student and fulfilling her passion in Education.
