Two weeks ago, my 72-year-old mom’s life was turned upside down when a furnace explosion caused a devastating fire in her home. The explosion set her bed on fire, and the flames quickly spread, burning four out of five rooms. TVs, wardrobes, ceilings, and walls were all destroyed, and we had to throw out almost everything—kitchen cabinets, fridge, couches, tables, and chairs. The main door and three windows were shattered from the heat and explosion, leaving the house unlivable.

After the fire, my mom stayed with a family relative for a week, then moved in with a neighbor while we worked to make the house safe again. We’ve managed to replace the furnace, windows, and door, but there’s still so much left to do. The ceilings, walls, and floors all need to be redone, and the roof suffered smoke damage that needs urgent repair. The costs are overwhelming, and we’re doing everything we can to help her return to her own home.

My mom is safe and healthy, and we are so grateful that no one was hurt in the fire. This experience has impacted her immensely, but she remains hopeful thanks to the kindness of friends, family, and neighbors. We are beyond grateful for everyone who has supported us so far.
