Help Emilia's fight with Leukemia
Donation protected
First off, we want to thank everyone for their continued prayers. We are immensely thankful for everything. Thank you to each person that has reached out and extended their love to our family. We see you, we hear you, and we love you. Even if we have not responded, we have read what you are saying.
This road has not been easy.
September 21 marks the first day of fall, generally my favorite time of year. However, this year it marks the day that our 17 day year old infant daughter Emilia was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Our journey started at Floyd Medical center on the 20th where an ER visit for lethargy turned into a transfer to Scottish Rite Children's for elevated white blood cell count. It was at Scottish Rite that they told us she had a pericardial effusion. This means she had an excess amount of fluid around her heart that, if it got worse, could suffocate the heart and cause cardiac arrest.
Scottish Rite decided to transfer us to Egleston where the cardiology team had the best tools to preform a pericardiocentesis to drain the fluid if needed.
We are now on day three going into four here at Egleston and there is no discharge in sight. Little miss just completed day two of her chemotherapy and had the fluid drained off her heart today.
As you can imagine, costs are adding up and with Jaime staying out of work, it is a scary time. With his job being solely commission, if he isn't there, he does not bring home a check and he already used his vacation time this year for when Emilia was born.
We are not the type to like to ask for help, however, we know that now is not the time to turn away to those that are offering their blessings and love to our family.
Again, we are so thankful for each of you. Financial donations are appreciated as food and gas expenses will soon start exceeding comfortability. However, it is your prayers that are seeing us through so please don't stop with the prayers.
We will keep you all updated as the times goes on.
Much love-
The Cachua Family
