Hi, my name is Andrianna, and I’m fundraising for Emilia, one of the many stray cats in Cyprus. I have been feeding Emilia, who lives outside my building, since I moved to Cyprus from England 10 weeks ago. Unfortunately, Emilia is struggling with respiratory issues and tooth problems, which is causing her difficulty swallowing food and water. I delayed taking her to the vet as I cannot afford her care, but when I found her unable to eat her food, choking when taking a bite, and struggling to breathe, I had no choice but to take her to the vet, as the shelter would not accept her without vaccines and her being in good health as she could infect the other cats. I could not leave her without treatment, as she was hiding away, something cats commonly do when they are close to death.

She is currently staying at the vet while they treat her, but each night costs €30. If I withdraw Emilia from treatment early, she may not get treated fully, but each day gets more and more expensive.

She will also need an X-ray, which is €25, and the initial consultation costs €20. If they find more things wrong with her during her X-ray, this could mean an operation which may be several hundred euros. Her basket to get to the vet, and a litter tray for when she stays with me also cost €40.

On top of these costs, she will need antibiotics, and will need her teeth removed, which is a further cost. After this, I’ll need to take her back to the vet to get neutered, and she will need to be vaccinated (in order for a shelter to accept her). Neutering costs around €50, and vaccines are also a further cost. As I am renting my parent’s apartment, they will not allow me to keep her in the flat, only while she recovers from her treatment. So in order for me to get Emilia to safe shelter, I must also raise the funds for her to be vaccinated, so she can have a safe place to live.
