Our good friend Emile Modesitt was in a life-changing motorcycle accident on Sunday night. He was struck by a car whose driver was arrested on DUI charges. He has suffered severe, permanently altering injuries, including the amputation of his left lower leg below the knee, which have already required multiple surgeries and will require even more extensive recovery. He spent 5 nights in the ICU, and is still in the hospital fighting.
For those who don't know Emile, he is a deeply loyal friend, kind and caring person, and has always been motivated to improve himself while helping others. Whether he is rock climbing, mountain biking, dirt biking, or hiking, he pours his energy into his passions. That drive led him to turn his love for designing, building, and helping others into a business, founding Modesitt Fabrication LLC where he makes training and recovery devices for climbers. Emile also co-founded the YouTube channel Hooper’s Beta, where he has dedicated *countless* hours producing over 160 free, educational videos, designed to help guide climbers through injury recovery, prevention, and advanced training.
Now, Emile and his family face a long, difficult road. His injuries mean navigating a completely new physical path forward. While we have no doubt he will bring his signature determination to his recovery, he shouldn't have to fight this battle alone. The financial burden of his extended ICU stay, surgeries, and long-term recovery will be staggering.
We want to show Emile the same unwavering support he has always given his friends and community. He has given so much to help in the recovery of others, and now he needs that help from all of us.
If you are able, please consider donating to ease the financial strain on him and his family so he can focus on healing.
Please keep Emile in your thoughts and prayers!
