Help Emil Recover: Support for Vet Bills
Donation protected
Jay and I recently experienced a medical emergency for our little fella Emil. On Thursday at 1am he started to sneeze repeatedly which then turned into throwing up. He threw up intermittently from 1am to 1pm, at which point brought him into the emergency vet. The vet said due to his vitals being stable there was no need for bloodwork/urinalysis and sent us home after a fluid bolus and anti nausea meds stating “He probably just got into something he shouldn’t have and to come back if he keeps throwing up tomorrow.” No discharge note or instructions otherwise.
After 31 hours of him being lethargic and while the throwing up had stopped, he hadn’t eaten or drank anything in 31 hours besides his bolus at the vet. When I called the vet inquiring how long can he go without food/water they immediately asked if he had gotten bloodwork/urinalysys yesterday and said I should bring him back. We went to a kitty urgent care who finally did blood work for us and told us he had a fever of 105 with very elevated glucose, liver levels, with extreme lethargy. We were immediately referred to an ICU an hour away. Luckily we got there in time and the staff immediately took him and began treatment.
Between both of us missing work and vet bills from three facility’s, our savings for a down payment on a house has been severely impacted. At the end of the day it was our choice to save our little guy, and we know that times are really hard (groceries, rent nearly double, your own medical bills, I could go on) but if you could give a little bit or at least share this around it would mean the world to us! We are trying to raise about half what we paid so far and we are grateful for any and all help, whatever that looks like to you! Emil seems to be a lot better and we plan to pick him up tonight. Losing him would have been detrimental to Jay and myself, as well as his best buddy Archie. We are so so so so happy to be bringing out baby boy home
