Help Emet get the care he needs
Donation protected
Our friend and community member, Emet, needs our help!
Emet is a Jewish queer and trans disability activist. In the past year Emet has had 7 surgeries, which not only have been immensely challenging physically and emotionally, but have been a tremendous financial burden as well. Emet is on a fixed income (SSDI) and can barely get by on the little benefits he receives every month, let alone afford absolutely necessary home care services, medical equipment, service dog training, and more.
OUR GOALS
$1,200 in backpay to two of Emet’s home care aides (his home care aids are both disabled queer people that need to be paid back in order to continue services)
$3,600 for 3 months of home care services while he continues to appeal to have his home care services covered by the state, as it is impossible for him to afford it on SSDI alone
At the moment this is where we are starting our fundraising goals. Once we get the absolute bare minimum covered, which would be necessary and urgent at home care services, we will be holding more fundraisers to address other crucial necessitates. Eventually we want to fundraise to buy Emet new medical equipment and to continue training his service dog.
Emet is a kind, patient, and compassionate person dedicated to social justice. He is also a wonderful friend, and a fantastic parent to his service dog, Roxie. It is up to us, our community, and our extended communities, to help him. Due to the current sociopolitical climate, we need to come together to take care of each other more then ever. Crowdsourcing and fundraising is our best chance to get these needs met.
We deeply appreciate your generosity and kindness. Even if you cannot afford to donate, please do share this fundraiser so we can meet our goals and help our friend.
