On November 28, 2025, the day after Thanksgiving, Emery (13) and Piper (8) lost both of their parents in a single, devastating moment. They were orphaned by a heinous act of domestic violence in which their father shot and killed their mother before taking his own life, as documented in the official sheriff’s report. From that moment on, Emery and Piper’s lives were permanently changed.

My name is Charles Morris. I am the retired and widowed maternal grandfather of Emery and Piper, and due to Emery’s quick action in calling 911, the girls were rescued and are now in my care.

Since that day, everything has changed. Following the court’s decision granting me custody, I am now solely responsible for meeting Emery and Piper’s medical care, counseling, insurance coverage, educational needs, and daily living expenses. My focus is on providing them with a safe, stable, and loving home as they begin the long process of healing and rebuilding their lives.

This fundraiser is to help cover immediate and ongoing needs, including their mother’s funeral expenses, as well as the continuing costs of medical, dental, and vision insurance and professional grief counseling for both children. Donations will also help with the everyday costs of raising Emery and Piper, such as clothing, school needs, and basic living expenses.
