Help Emelia with her Medical Costs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Emelia and I'm 21 years old. I have multiple chronic illnesses that have taken away much of my teenage years.
On the 12th of May 2024, my Neurological condition progressed significantly and I have since been in hospital. This has left me paralysed (wheelchair dependant) and on 2L of oxygen 24/7, whilst I already rely on a suprapubic catheter to drain my bladder for me as I have a paralysed bladder.
My main condition is;
Functional Neurological Disorder: A disorder where the brain doesn't communicate with the body properly, this causes a huge range of neurological symptoms. My main symptoms are;
• non-epileptic seizures
• leg paralysis
• left hand paralysis
• vomiting
• bladder paralysis
• breathing issues.

I haven spent the last few years in and out of hospital receiving treatment for my conditons, missing out on life.
The goal of this GFM is to raise enough money to buy a portable oxygen concentrator (which we have achieved! Thank you!) and contribute to other specialists and allied health reports necessary for me to get onto the NDIS. Any extra money will go towards catheter supplies and other medical costs only.
I have been battling to get onto the NDIS and as my days in hospital grow, I do however draw closer to gaining NDIS access and support. However, for my application to succeed, I was advised that I needed up-to-date specialist reports, allied health documents, and assessments to achieve NDIS. One of these is a functional capacity assessment. This is a specialist report that goes in-depth into my disabilities and how they affect me, also outlining the exact support I'll need to be funded.
Anything anyone can give is greatly appreciated it means the world to me and my family. The support I have received over the years, I couldn't have done it without you all. Thank you. ❤️
