Hi! My name is Emeka Burney, and my story began right here on the Southside of Cleveland in 1980. Though life took me to Montgomery, Alabama, to be raised, I never lost that Ohio spirit. It was in Montgomery, Fall of 1996, where I first felt the weight and the honor of a title when I was crowned Ms. Fidelity at Freedom Life Christian Academy. That experience taught me early on that a crown isn't just an ornament—it is a commitment to the people you represent.
After graduation, I dedicated myself to the most important work there is: raising my family and building a career while attending Alabama State University. In Summer 2008, my family and I relocated back home to Cleveland. And in November of 2019, I found my true home within the International Free and Accepted Modern Masons, Inc. and Order of Eastern Star. I didn't just join this Order to wear a sash; I joined to serve a mission. My journey from Ms. Fidelity to a candidate for IFAMM State of Ohio Queen has been 30 years in the making. I have learned that to lead, you must first know how to follow, and to be a Queen, you must first be a servant. Throughout my days as a member of the Order of Eastern Star, I have served as Worthy Matron, District Matron and currently Vice Director for the Ohio JOINT COUNCIL.
I am running for IFAMM State of Ohio Queen because I want to bring that same spirit of 'Fidelity'—that same spirit of loyalty and faith—to our entire state. My vision is clear: Leading with Love, Serving with Grace. Leading with Love means honoring our seasoned sisters who built this foundation and mentoring our new members who are our future. Serving with Grace means representing Ohio with the strength of a Clevelander and the hospitality of a Southerner. I am a mother, grandmother, Sister, and a worker for the Craft. The funds raised will help cover registration fees, travel expenses, and community outreach events as I campaign for Queen. I ask for your donation to help me become the next IFAMM State Queen representing Ohio, so together we can show the world the heart of Ohio. Thank you!
