Hello everyone! My name is Caspian and I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my 17 year old little sister, Embry. When Embry was 11 years old, she was raped several times. Obviously, this had a tremendous toll on her mental health as well as stripped her of all self worth and made it very difficult for her to feel loved or valued or like her life mattered. When she was 12 years old, I discovered what had happened to her after finding her cutting herself open in her bedroom at our father’s house. I told my father, and he became enraged and blamed her. We suggested therapy to find out who had raped her, but he said that he would not approved of it, and that “he would be her therapist”. After becoming aware, my MOTHER sent her to the only available treatment center we could find at the time in the hopes that they would be able to help. There, WITHOUT US KNOWING, the doctors prescribed her very HEAVY doses of Xanax and other such drugs EVERY FOUR HOURS, for MONTHS. Again, at such a young age, the amount that she was being prescribed was far too high and resulted in her body forming a need to be on it regularly to function. She was 12 years old. When she was released back to us, not only had her condition not improved at all, but she now had a serious drug addiction. We struggled for years as we watched her self harm and spiral deeper into addiction. I would return from school on a regular basis to ambulances and police cars parked in our driveway. My mom was a single mom at the time, raising four kids on her own. As hard as she tried, she always felt as though she was falling short. Years later, we are still in the same situation. Embry is now 17 years old and still has not been able to find treatment, either related to the cost of treatment, or the treatment centers not accepting minors. She has now been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and has progressed from Xanax into now having a serious fentanyl addiction. While she does genuinely want help, we are losing sight of her as the addiction continues to spiral out of control. My mother does absolutely everything she can and has put up with unimaginable strife in the effort to keep her little girl alive and safe. Every year, Embry slips further and further away from us. I am creating this GoFundMe because at this point, it is our only remaining option. We have tried for years to keep it together and try to remain private on the issue, but it is simply more than we can handle alone. I miss my little sister every day. I miss the little girl who was so full of love and a lust for life. I miss the little girl that I used to build forts with, and I miss the little girl that I would laugh with as we snuck into the fridge to steal ice cream. I miss my little sister. And with your help, maybe one day I can see her again.
