Hi, I’m Adriana and my orange boy is Ember.

On Tuesday, I found Ember on the bedroom floor, breathing heavily and meowing in pain. I pet him and realized any movement he made or him being pet hurt him. I didn’t understand what was happening until I watched him try to walk and fall over. He tried to use the bathroom, but instead of the regular peeing, it was blood. I felt his stomach and his bladder and realized everything about his body was as hard as a rock. He didn’t show signs of any pain or discomfort until it was almost fatal. I called so many vets and hospitals until I came across Town & Country here in Bloomington, IL.

I rushed him over, and they said the surgery would cost anywhere from $1,600-$2,000 just starting out, and that was before they knew how blocked his bladder was. My poor boy had a completely blocked bladder, crystals, and he was in so much pain.

With financial difficulties, we were given the option for euthanasia. I didn’t want that at all, but it was the only right decision at the moment. Either let him come home and die in pain OR let him pass peacefully at the vet. He was brought back in the room where I was saying my goodbyes, and then a miracle happened.

They said they’d do the surgery and we could do payments ($100) a month until paid off, including interest. Instead of saying goodbye, he was sedated and unblocked and then had a PU surgery the next day.

He is now home and on the mend. I am still struggling financially, but as long as Ember is home, alive, and well, then that’s what matters.

I’m asking for some help (even if it’s a little). A little goes a long way, and it would be amazing to see the animal community come together to help with a financial plan.
