Help Ember Recover From Pancreatitis

On March 13th, Ember had some GI issues after dental surgery we assumed were just stress gastroenteritis, and she got better after a simple treatment. On March 30th, she completely stopped eating and had GI symptoms again. After unsuccessful attempts at treatment on the 31st and April 1st at her local vet, I drove her up to Blue Pearl Southfield where she was admitted and continues to be treated. Her diagnosis at this time is acute pancreatitis. As with humans, this is incredibly painful and can be tricky to treat based on individual needs. After a few days of pain meds, anti-nausea meds, appetite stimulants, and IV fluids, she is still not eating well on her own, if at all. She has licked at some food on her own and from the techs and eaten a couple of treats from me during my visits in the evenings. Her vitals are pretty stable, but she’s been battling a fluctuating fever and still needs to be hospitalized for fluids and to try to get her eating on her own. They started syringe feeding today and the first one went well.

This is so incredibly emotionally and financially devastating, especially considering Ember is my last baby alive - I just lost her brother Isaac on January 14th and we lost her sister Bizzy on Christmas Day 2022. I can’t even imagine losing her and everything points toward her being able to recover from this, but we need time and we need professional medical help from the critical care team caring for her. I was there when she was born. I would lay down my life for her. I’m doing my best to stay strong for her and keep hope alive she will start eating again and be able to recover from this and come home. She’s never been sick until now. This is so hard for me to do, but I can’t just give up on her when there is a really good prognosis if we can just get her through this flare-up. At the suggestion of a couple of friends, I decided to create this fundraiser to try to help offset some of the cost of her medical care. The charges/daily estimates have all been getting charged to my Care Credit card and they are exorbitant at this point. If anyone is in a position to help or would like to help in any way, all funds would go to pay the final Care Credit charges and I will update with proof that any donated funds were used for that sole purpose. (We live in a world full of scams, unfortunately.)

I hope for good news tomorrow, I just want to bring my baby girl home. If other cats with pancreatitis can recover, she should be able to also. I’ll keep everyone updated here also, with any news. I get a text with photos of her morning and night, the internal medicine doc usually calls around 12-1, and then I go visit her. Please, even if you are unable to help us financially, keep us in your thoughts, prayers, etc. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. I’m trying so hard to have hope she is going to get through this and be able to come home.
