This is our beautiful Ember Phoenix. We live in Denmark (Western Australia). Ember has a big brother and two big sisters. She is 14 months old (December 2016), however has the movement ability of a 1 month old. Ember has been diagnosed with a neurological issue that affects her ability to organise her gross and fine movement patterns.
Ember has been unable to learn to move her body voluntarily or effectively, which means she finds it difficult to eat, chew and swallow. Holding toys in her hands is mostly impossible without help. When Ember tries to roll over, push up or become mobile, she has little success and quickly becomes extremely exhausted.
Ember has spent time in PMH (childrens hospital) for observation and underwent many tests which all returned showing no apparent reason to cause her severe developmental delays. We have tried the various Specialist recommended therapies (Physical therapy/Occupational therapy etc) with no success.
Recently Ember was lucky enough to see the only MNRI (Masgutova Neurosensrimotor Reflex Integration) method Core Specialist in Australia.
MNRI method was first developed by Dr Svetlana Musgatova in 1989 in Russia. It is a type of Manual Neuromodulation Technique, which has been clinically shown to enable positive neurodevelopment in adults and children with numerous forms of neurological impairment. Allowing them to gain significantly improved functional ability in all areas. Ember enjoys MNRI method, as it is a pain free and non-invasive neuroligical 'repatterning' therapy. From the first day of her therapy, Ember began to make some big improvements. After the fourth MNRI session, she could voluntarily open her mouth and use correct tongue movements when chewing and no had trouble swallowing a few mouthfuls. Just this alone has greatly improved her quality of life ! We are so grateful and excited to see her start to enjoy eating! We can’t wait for her to learn to work her little body and finally play with her siblings. Our family has already raised some funds for her to start the MNRI method, but will need some help if Ember is to continue with the program and keep making progress. Our Australian MNRI Specialist has invited us to fly with her when she next works at a 5 day family conference in the USA so that a whole team of international MNRI Specialists can work with Ember, including Dr Musgatova. ( Possibly April 2017 ). An estimate of about $12,000 of the $20,000 we need to raise, will cover our expenses to and Therapy in the US, with the rest of the funds contributing to Ember receiving regular fortnightly MNRI Therapy for one year. I will be taught some key home exercises to continue with Ember on a daily basis to facilitate the optimun chance of meeting her milestones as soon as possible.
This includes her learning to voluntarily control her own body as much as possible- including rolling over, pushing up, crawling, sitting, swallowing, chewing, eating and holding objects in her hands, and eventually walking. Ember will need ongoing therapy for many years in these areas using MNRI and possibly other therapies as well, so we would greatly appreciate any finacial help we are offered to help our beautiful baby girl continue improving and make the most of this time while she is so young.
