Help Em Cover Legal and Living Expenses

Donation protected
Em got out of emergency surgery Monday 10/27. On Tuesday 10/28 she was woken up with news her father was abducted by ICE on a job in Indiana. Still recovering from surgury she is now the only source of income to support her family and her father's legal fees.

Her father, a kind, hard-working man and longtime sole provider with no criminal record, faces deportation. Without legal representation, he faces the possibility of cruelty and further unjustified legal action, such as imprisonment. He means so much to his family, and they ask for his safety after his unprecedented abduction.

Em is a DACA recepitant who has been in the US since she was 5. Her family came to this country for medical care for her brother, who was born with a life threating auto immune condition, with care not availible in their home country. For over 20 years Em's family has been in this country, working, and paying for everything out of pocket. Em paid her way through college, working full time and was paying her way through graduate school for nonprofit administration. Her brother was in a PHD program studying addiction sciences. Her father worked nearly every day and her mom, who was diagnosed with a cancer ten years ago that still affects her every day, works in childcare whenever she can. If any family deserves support in a time like this, it is this one.

Em has helped countless people sign up for DACA or the "Dreamers" program as one of the few paths for children brought to the US recieve legal working staus. She works for a nonprofit spreading Holocaust and Genocide Awareness. She is a talented artist, kind person and amazing friend. She cares for her mother, brother, and now her father.

Any small bit helps. We are asking for funds to pay for living expenses and legal fees for her father's deportation trail, and possible emergency funds to leave the country before deportation if it comes to that. Please donate what you can.

A Note from a Family Friend

As someone who has known Em’s dad for years, I can say without hesitation that he is one of the kindest and most generous people I’ve met. During our undergraduate studies, when Em and I worked together, he would often offer me rides home without hesitation. Whenever we visited, he welcomed us into his home and made us feel like part of the family. I’ve seen firsthand how deeply he cares for his children and how hard he works to support his family.

He truly deserves all the love and support being shown to him and his family right now. Thank you to everyone who has contributed, shared, or sent kind words, it means more than you know.
