Help Elza Boxer and her family in Ukraine
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lynne and I am the dog mother of @dougalandfergus.
We have started this fund to help our friend @elza_boxer and her family who live in Ukraine.
When a few of us in the Boxer dog IG community first came up with the idea to start this fundraiser it was to help Elza’s family with necessities like groceries, including food for Elza, pay rent and bills while we all hoped and prayed a ceasefire could be reached.
It is now one month into the conflict and the horror of the war crimes happening against civilians in Ukraine is hard for most of us to process. But for Elza and her family what is happening is their new reality. They live in Ivano-Frankivsk where the airport has already been bombed. Air raid sirens occur daily and additional shelling has occurred in Lviv which is only 100 km from their home and was once thought to be a "safe city". It is almost impossible to know when or where the next bombing might occur.
So Elza's family are trying to make a plan to stay together for their longer-term safety, therefore we have increased our fundraising goal to try and help them find a house in the mountains.
Elza's mum Iryna has shared these beautiful words, which made me cry as I think all of us who love our families and our fur children feel the same.
Dear friends,
The war continues and we do not know when it will end and how. We would like to move to a safer place, since it is no longer safe to be in a big city. Our dream is to find a house somewhere far away in the mountains so that we can hide from shelling and rockets.
My husband and I have been together for 35 years and parting is too hard for us. Elza is also very attached to me. Our hearts beat together and our eyes are always looking at each other. Elza is now old and she needs medical treatment, but now it has become impossible. Elza is like our little child and a full-fledged member of the family for us. Our love for her is limitless and this is mutual.
