My name is Elysia, and I’m reaching out for support as I recover from a recent kidney transplant. For years, I struggled with headaches and migraines, not realizing they were signs of something more serious. After a sudden loss of vision and dizziness at work in April 2024, I was rushed to the ER with dangerously high blood pressure. That hospital stay changed everything: I was diagnosed with stage 4 chronic kidney disease due to hypertension. Since then, my life has been a whirlwind of medical appointments, new medications, and learning to manage dialysis at home. I had surgery to place a catheter in my abdomen, attended dialysis training at Davita Kidney Care Center, and have been receiving monthly bloodwork and shipments of dialysis supplies. On July 31, 2025, I received a kidney transplant—a life-changing moment, but one that comes with significant financial challenges. I now face the costs of surgery, ongoing medications, and frequent travel for treatments, especially since I’m unable to drive for the next few weeks. I also can’t work for at least three months, making it difficult to cover rent, utilities, and mounting medical bills. Throughout this journey, I’ve been grateful for the support of my mom, my boyfriend Cole, his parents, my family, and friends. Their encouragement has kept me going, but the financial burden is overwhelming. My hope is to recover fully, return to my work as a speech language pathologist, and eventually continue my dream of visiting all 50 states. Right now, I’m focused on healing and getting back to the life I love. Any support you can offer will help me manage these expenses and move forward with hope.
