Hi, my name is Lauryn, and I'm fundraising for my best friend Elyse, a loving wife, devoted mom, and dedicated preschool teacher who is now facing a terrifying health battle.

Elyse was recently diagnosed with a renal tumor measuring 11 cm (over 4 inches)—about the size of a fist. Because she has diabetes, doctors are unable to perform a biopsy, and the only option is major surgery to remove both the tumor and the entire kidney. A specialist is required due to her complex health conditions, and this surgery is urgent—it’s the only way to determine whether the tumor is cancerous.

Elyse also suffers from anemia, neuropathy in her legs, and cataracts in both eyes, which will eventually require surgery as well. These ongoing health challenges have added enormous financial stress to her family.

Despite everything she’s going through, Elyse continues to give so much of herself. She’s been married to her husband, Gus, for 17 years, and together they have two wonderful children. Elyse works at her local church’s daycare as a preschool music and STEM teacher, and she also works weekends as a nanny to help make ends meet.
