Help Elyse Aeryn Heal and Get Back to the Music
On Monday night, September 1st, 2025, around 10:00 p.m. Atlantic, Elyse Aeryn was involved in a serious collision while driving her motorcycle near her home in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. She had recently returned (Sunday night) from the Labour Day Weekend Wharf Rat Rally in Digby.
Known for the grit and passion of her Roots-Rock music alternatively described as “Motorcycle Country," riding has been part of Elyse’s story, her music videos, social media, and her everyday life since the beginning. Posting on Instagram on Sunday, accompanying photos and video from the rally, Elyse quipped: "I always said one day I’d love to own a bike, to drive across the province, to go to a rally… Life is a damn journey. It’s all about the ride "
With clear skies for the journey coming and going, meeting friends new and old along the way, what had been a dream weekend suddenly turned dark in an instant.
With all praise and thanks due to EHS LifeFlight, Elyse was swiftly transported to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax where the efforts of brilliant paramedics, nurses, and doctors working all through Monday night stabilized her, and she has now begun her long, challenging recovery. Her partner Garrett Taylor, who had been riding ahead of her and was not impacted in the collision, has not left her side since—providing vital emotional and physical support while coordinating with the rest of her team and family from her bedside.
Down but never out, Elyse Aeryn is a fighter.
Over the coming days, weeks, and months there will be many decisions to be made. However what’s immediately clear is the urgent need for financial stability so Elyse and Garrett can focus 100% on healing—without the pressure of missed pay-cheques, rent, and medical-related costs. As hospitality workers, there are no sick days, medical insurance, or other benefits extended to Elyse or Garrett during emergencies like this.
As professional musicians too, Elyse may also need to cancel some or all upcoming tour dates in the Maritimes and Ontario as the doctors' prognosis evolves, shows tied to the launch of her new album, Everybody Loves You…, that were set to begin September 25. The album itself may also need to be postponed until she is well enough to conduct interviews and promote it to the best of her formidable abilities.
